We are in Cullen on the east coast of Scotland and the motorhome stopover here is just off-the-scale good in terms of value for money, but right next door there's something that makes us sad.

THRILLS and CHILLS in Huntly

We start off on this trip in Forfar and we head off around the loch in search of a memorial stone to the Forfar witches. Then we move on to Huntly and there's thrills on the "spring thing" and chills deep in the prison cells of Huntly Castle.

Staffa - Scotland's Alien Isle

We're still on the isle of Mull on the West Coast of Scotland, but today we are off on an excursion to Staffa which is 7 miles to the west of Mull and looks to us like a set from Star Trek. There we are astonished at the incredible Fingal's cave before going up to the cliffs to see the puffins. What a fantastic day!
A Tight Squeeze To The Beautiful Scottish Island of Mull

We leave from Oban and have a really tight squeeze on the ferry over to Mull but it was worth it as we visit the beautiful town of Tobermory with all of the colourful houses along the sea front.

We're off on our adventures again and we'll be heading for the isle of Mull on the west coast of Scotland, but on the way we stop over at Cobleland campsite by Aberfoyle and it's a good chance for us to show you some modifications that we've made to the van.

We've been touring France in our SWIFT Carrera 144 for ten weeks, and this was partly to give the new van a good shakedown, and to find out if there's anything that we would change. Also we wanted to learn a bit more about ourselves - it's the longest we have ever been away holidaying in a van so how exactly do we feel about it?

It's morning and we are expecting to awaken to the sound of birds chirping but no. Instead, it's the loud noise of a wood chipper, so Mike goes out to investigate. It looks like they will be here for a while, so do we stay or do we go now?

We are in Mimizan on the south west coast of France, and looking forward to visiting the beach after reading great reviews online, but we are shocked when we get there to find huge amounts of plastic waste all along the beach. Later back at the van, we have some of our own rubbish to deal with.

@@MikeandTriciaOotnAboot no i did not but i will look at it , thank you ...i am une to do long distance trek , like acrostiche the Pyrénées...925 km in 42 dans or the costa brava in spain.... 600 km 8n 20 days... and this time it is 525 km in 21 days or less ...my backpack in total , with everything, 11kg and i will ship 2 supply boxes ... you know everything , thank you my friend... sincerely yours Luc from south of France

I have recently found your site and really like your vlogs. I was disappointed though about your attitude to the wood chipper. From my experience the French start work earlier than people in England and Scotland. This is part of their culture and when visiting other countries I believe it’s important to respect difference. I get it might have been annoying but just move, no big deal. I wish I had the luxury to sleep past 8am with my dogs 😂
@@marijayne9644 Thanks, glad you found us. The pollarding work on the trees could have been done any time over the winter, certainly before they opened the site. It was not simple grass or hedge cutting, this was extremely loud, people go to these sites for peace and quiet and relaxation. They did not tell us when we booked the day before we arrived and no signs up. We very seldom have the luxury of sleeping past 8am, I am normally out with Keira at 6a.m. but we arrived late after a long drive. We complained to the Camping Car Parks helpdesk afterwards, the chap said they had been inundated with complaints and apologised that the site owner had not told them about the work that was being done. Obviously didn't want to put people off booking.

Take another look at the AVERAGE price of Campsites in Scotland. Yes, they are welcoming those of us from South of the Border.....Then they rip us off when we visit their welcoming campsite, absolutely rotten. I once told a Scottish Duke that the toilets on his campsite literally stank....He replied "Take it or leave it" - Is that Scottish hospitality???

agree with you 100%, I don't think you are wrong when people are tarnishing your country, just to get extra views. I don't mind the harmless click bait but what they said in that click bait thumbnail is over the top. but all they see is that it worked, does not matter if it is true or not. totally wrong of them. Hi guys, absolutely love watching your trips & info. We have a 144 (Carrera), did you check how much extra weight the underslung has added to the van? It’s a great solution but I’m just concerned about the additional weight - many thxs phil
@@philipcook5574 Hi Phil, I think it only adds about 8 or 9 kg over the 2 x 3.9kg bottles so it's not much. Our issue is turning the gas off as the valve is right in the middle and very difficult to reach.
@@MikeandTriciaOotnAboot oh …, that’s sounds challenging! I’m also contemplating the Gaslow system as well, but love the idea of getting some storage space back like you guys have. It’s a great van but the gas situation / location is frustrating. Thank you for sharing though, it really helps and we so enjoy your vids 👍

4 mos down the road and I believe if you want more comfort, you can keep the cushion side up, only put the part the has a little bump up on it, place it facing the outside of the van. You'd still have the flatness for the bed, but the cushy side facing up.

Nice to see you on the ! I love Cullen. Once when I was on the beach with my cavalier there was a wedding party having their photos by the stacks. Didn't my dog decide they needed him in their photos

This Englishman has always been made to feel very welcome in Scotland. This Englishman also stopped watching the Travel Beans some time ago when he got tired of the hyped, misleading and downright inaccurate titles and forced dramatic nature of the content. Plenty of good content available elsewhere.
